Until now.

Key West's locally owned bridal shop Love Struck is open for business!

Here is a little insight from the owner, Lorri Bolander! "Love Struck In Key West is a product of the heart in many ways. Love Struck was conceived after 13 years of being in the bridal hair and makeup business in Key West and hearing the frustrations of destination brides as well as our local brides that there is no place to buy last minute bridal needs. Key West is the second place in the US for destination weddings so it only makes sense that this little island of ours needs to cater a little more to them. When the location right next to Key West Hair and Makeup opened up I felt it was a sign this was meant to be. I took account all the items so many brides had been searching for and the wedding party wish there was to buy last minute gifts.

The result is being very well received. To name a few items that we carry here is bling for days with our jewelry, headpieces, hair combs and foot jewelry.  We  carry satin robes for the bride and her wedding party. ( A bridal party favorite) We also offer flip flops, bridal party gifts, glassware, weddings cards, Key West Bride tank tops, lingerie, bachelorette items and so much more! We keep listening to what our customers are requesting and we are slowly but surely trying to meet everyones demands.

There is nothing better than knowing you have just made someone's dream of a perfect wedding just a little bit better with that little extra piece. Whether it is a gift from family or friends or the bride herself. Its seems everyone always leaves with a smile."

In addition to offering such great bridal needs and wedding gifts, the shop offers gift cards which make for wonderful gifts for the upcoming bride or groom in your life. They are also shipping for all past and future bride and grooms that are looking for local items.

Amy + Eric Tesker- Vintage Romantic Key West Wedding http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2018/1/amy-eric-tesker-keywest-wedding Amy Sebo and Eric Tesker met two years ago through a mutual friend. They went on their first date a week later and have been inseparable ever since.  In the past couple of years since that first date, they have not gone more than a week apart from each other. "Amazing when you can find someone who you love talking to. A best friend for life!" They love spending time together, whether it is playing darts in the basement or grabbing a few beers from a local tavern. Anyone that meets these two can feel the love they share for each other. I love the way Eric can make Amy laugh! I had such a great time capturing those moments between the two of them!

Amy and Eric were engaged on December 10th in 2016 in downtown Milwaukee. After weeks of working hard at work and on their new house in Grafton, they decided to take a break for a weekend. Eric suggested they go back to all of the old bars they went to on their first date. After a few drinks at the first bar, they walked to the second. It is a back alley speakeasy but they were closed. Eric tried opening the door, turned around and proposed to Amy! "It was such a sweet, surprising and thoughtful way to make it special".

After the couple visited Key West they fell in love with the relaxed atmosphere of the island.  They decided to have a destination wedding where they exchanged vows oceanside at Fort Zachary Taylor The wedding was vintage and romantic with classic black suits, gorgeous burgundy gowns, and unforgettable beach floral decor by Milan.  Guests enjoyed the best view on the island where the couple made it official at the point where the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic oceans meet. After first dances on the beach and sunset, Old Town Trolley took everyone for dinner and the reception.

The outdoor reception took place at the Rooftop Cafe restaurant known for its signature award-winning cuisine! The couples decor included photo frames with family members, a globe as a sign-in book, and photos of the couple when they were young. Such a cute idea!

After dinner the new Mr. and Mrs. Tesker cut the cake and it was PARTY TIME! Congratulations Amy and Eric!

Sonia + Benito- Island Wedding in Key West http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2018/1/sonia-benito--island-wedding-in-key-west Sonia + Benito are wonderful people. Wonderful people who found each other, fell in love, and make the world a better place because of it! They first met at a Knicks game in 2013. After three years of falling for each other they were then engaged in Sada, Spain on March 4th of 2017 when they went to see Sonia's mother for her 80th Birthday. The two love traveling together, and ultimately decided on a destination wedding to say their I Do's. They were married at the gorgeous Margaritaville Resort here in Key West, Florida on January 6th, 2018 oceanside among their children, close friends, and family!

It was a picture perfect wedding day with just a slight breeze in the air. :) Wedding details included engraved wedding bands, custom wedding hangers, a gorgeous wedding gown, Jimmy Choo shoes, and drop dead gorgeous flowers! So well put together by the couple and their wonderful vendors.

After the ceremony everyone enjoyed cocktail hour while watching the sun set near the famous Sunset Key.  Sonia and Benito love to cook together so it was no surprise the dinner menu was tremendous! Including menu items like local fried (whole) grouper! YUM! The bride and groom cut the cake and continued to dance the night away!

Congratulations to you and your families!

Mekenzy + Collin Say I Do in Key West! http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2018/1/mekenzy-collin-say-i-do-in-key-west Mekenzy and Collin are just wonderful people. Anyone who is around them, just falls in love with them and the connection they have with each other. They met in high school through friends but never became super close friends until January of 2014. "What I did not know was that he wanted to be more than friends, and I thought he was crazy...But fortunately not long after he told me he would marry me one day, I fell for his charm!" They became officially a couple on January 4th, 2015!

In September of 2016 Collin, his Mom, and Dad took Mekenzy on what she thought was a spontaneous trip to Coronado. While on the trip, Mekenzy wanted photos on the beach of the four of them not knowing what was in store for her! Before dinner they headed to the beach where Mekenzy picked out the spot for "family photos". Collin's parents were not far behind. Mekenzy explains, "He put his arm around me and told me how much he loved me and that he had wanted to spend the rest of his life with me...I looked at him and said awwww and I saw his eyes full of tears without them falling. That’s when I knew something was wrong and when I asked if he was okay he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was completely in shock and could barley say yes because all the tears of joy so I just shook my head up and down!"

She heard people around her clapping and cheering Collin on and that’s when she realized HE had hired the photographer to capture this special moment! She cried again!

Mekenzy and Collin with their adventurous spirit decided to say their I Do's in Key West on a stop off the cruise ship! Though the morning started off a little rainy, it turned in to a picture perfect island day at the stunning Reach Resort! Nothing but blue skies for these two! The details were so well thought out. Beth and Mekenzy didn't miss a beat on what to include!  Everyone danced to the beats, ate wonderful food, drank from their Yeti cups the bride and groom gifted, and smoked a hand- rolled Cuban cigars. They had a blast and so did we!

After the wedding and reception, the couple and their closest friends and family were delivered back to the Royal Caribbean where they sailed off to Nassau, Bahamas. Great party, right!!? :)  Then once the couple got off the ship in Ft Lauderdale they went to the Exumas and spent their honeymoon!

Congratulations to you and your families!

Maggie + Brian's Key West Wedding Adventure! http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2018/1/maggie-brians-key-west-wedding-adventure Maggie and Brian are an adventurous and fun-loving couple who love to travel! Brian is a go with the flow kind of person and Maggie is the planner which makes their traveling adventures so amazing. "We wander and see so much more of the world because of it! "

The two met on a work trip on August 9th, 2013. Maggie was "absolutely mean to him because another flight attendant told me he treats them like crap." By the end of the trip she found out it was the wrong pilot named Brian and apologized. Within two weeks Brian knew Maggie was the one but it freaked her out and she had a total meltdown. Luckily the meltdown didn't affect him and they started officially dating soon after!

On January 21st, 2017 they went out with friends and Brian asked everyone to come back to the house for "pizza". Eventually the night ended with Brian down on one knee asking Maggie to marry her! Needless to say only one friend came back and he never made pizza!

The two were married in the first week of 2018 in Key West, Florida inside the beautiful Casa Marina ballroom. The details included followed their life theme of traveling and were so well thought out! The reception immediately followed the ceremony at the Reach Resort where Maggie and Brian danced the night away and celebrated their biggest adventure yet!

Congratulations to you and your families!

Rachelle + Jason April Say I Do in Key West on New Years Eve! http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2018/1/rachelle-jason--new-years-eve Rachelle and Jason met back in high school. Many years later they reconnected after unknowingly very similar parallel lives. During what Rachelle and Jason refer to as their Paleozoic Era, as high school sweethearts and each other's first loves. Boy did they love each other... truly, madly, deeply. All one has to do is read their high school yearbook to know they both thought they were destined to be together forever. After high school, they both went  off for college in Arizona... only appropriate that Rachelle was an University of Arizona Wildcat and Jason an Arizona State University Sun Devil... lets just say Jason's thoughts of devilish adventurers got the better of him and their relationship came to an end. Although for Jason, Rachelle was the one that got away.

Flash forward 25 years - Rachelle and Jason were now both divorced (finalized exactly one week apart from each other) and each the parent of two beautiful girls. One day out of the blue Jason reaches out to Rachelle via Facebook messenger just to say "hey." With so many years passed and truly having no idea of what has transpired in each other's lives in the past 25 years, they shockingly start to realize how parallel their separate lives have run. Jason proclaiming that the answers to Rachelle's questions, "are too much to type," he gives Rachelle his cell number and says "if you're not too scared call me." Rachelle scared? Seriously? "RING... RING...," challenge accepted; they talk for the first time on Valentine's Day 2014. Being that they were best friends so long ago, it was like no time had past, giving each support, advice, an ear to listen, and a heart to understand. Soon after, it is clear that the rekindled friendship quickly grew to become something more. To think they almost chose not to explore the possibilities of where things could go due to geography... Many are all very thankful they did!

First love, last love, best love... each other's beginning, middle, and end. Each other's fate and destiny; 4evaFin! True love stories never end...

Rachelle and Jason opted for a First Look so we could take photos Around Key West before the ceremony. The two were married on a beautiful Key West evening at the stunning Hyatt Centric among their closest friends and four daughters. It was a picture perfect New Years Eve wedding!

Congratulations to you and you families!

Why A Wedding Album is so Important http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2018/1/why-a-wedding-album-is-so-important Planning one of the biggest days of your life is a joy, but the effect on your bank account might not be! As you think through where to save money and where to splurge, one of the questions that will come up is: Should I opt for a wedding album, or just digital photos?

I absolutely love helping my wedding photography clients create wedding albums! After the nuptials are over, your wedding album is a beautiful manifestation of the day, and it can easily be viewed and shared with loved ones for years to come, helping to relive cherished moments. Here are some thoughts on why I so highly recommend wedding albums.

1. Albums are much more personal. After the wedding, envision yourself with friends and family, looking through photos. Do you see yourselves sitting in front of a computer or passing around your smartphone to share your memories? Isn’t the image of gathering around an album much warmer? If you, your family, or friends have made photo albums in the past, you know how magical it can be to sit down together, flip through the pages, and reminisce about your wedding.

2. Albums tell a story. The layout and design of an album tell the story of your wedding much better than digital images. The photos that you select will convey what was important to you on that day – an experience you cannot achieve by looking through 500 photos or sitting through a video. Albums give you the freedom of highlighting your absolute favorite moments. They also give you an opportunity to design it to match the look and feel of your wedding. You can choose the colors, the cover materials (fabric, leather, etc.), album size, and layout and design of pages.

3. Albums are forever. Imagine this scenario: a fire breaks out in your home, and you're trying to save your most valuable possessions. A USB stick with your wedding photos sure wouldn't be one of the things you grab! Besides, our current technology might seem immortal, but CDs, USBs, and hard drives actually all have a shelf life! Meanwhile, with just a bit of safeguarding, a tangible wedding album is a precious keepsake that will last for decades. Plus, its impact will last far beyond many of the extras you might be considering for your wedding, such as grandiose but short-lived florals or riding away in a limo. Albums are not just for you and your partner, but your families, your children, and your children’s children. They will want to know what you and your other family members looked like on that day. They might even incorporate your wedding photos into their own weddings!

4. Albums are a worthwhile investment. Weddings today typically cost tens of thousands of dollars. Considering everything you’re spending for a perfect day, think about how your photos are one of the few things that last beyond wedding itself. Why wouldn’t you invest in a professional capturing of your big day? It makes sense to a bit more to have your photos organized into a beautiful keepsake album - especially if you’ve chosen a premier professional photographer to take photos in the first place.

5. Albums are a leisurely project. Compared to the potential stress as your wedding date gets closer, working on your wedding album is very relaxed! Enjoy your honeymoon, ease into married life, then start thinking about your album at your own pace. After selecting your favorite photos from the hundreds I'll capture on your wedding day, I will design the albums at no additional costs to you! It's a very fun process that allows you to be as low key or involved as you like. It's very popular to order albums in time for the holidays or your anniversary!

Josh and Joey- He Said Yes! http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2017/12/josh-and-joey-he-said-yes I have known Josh for years and could not wait to meet Joey on their Key West vacation this year. After they arrived in Key West the second I met Joey, I knew he was a perfect fit! Joey is such a genuine and kind person that brings a sense of balance. Josh is such a thoughtful and caring person so choosing him was also a good move, Joey! We went to Fort Zachary Taylor for couples photos and I though at any minute one of the guys were going to get down on one knee! It did not happen during our shoot but I think during these photos the idea was sparked! Not only do I love them dearly I am beyond excited to share this love story!

From Josh:

Our love story began by complete happenstance in 2015. Us being together could have easily never happened. But fate has a wondrous way about it, and finally brought us together in 2016. It was completely unexpected, but also something that felt very right. When I look into his eyes I just have to say there's a depth. This kind, caring, and loving soul I see into. I feel his emotions. They're genuine and true, and we're connected. His eyes stole my heart!

I lived in Key West for four years, and Joey's been visiting the island off and on since 2006.

In 2002 Joey's grandparents took his parents, aunts and uncles for a family getaway to Key West. Had that never happened so long ago our very chance of meeting just may have been missed. Joey's Mom and stepfather have been going to Key West yearly ever since. They're down there each June and October. Joey and I's shared connection to the island caused our paths to cross one fateful day, and the rest is history! Key West truly is a special place to us! A home away from home!  joeyandjoshkeywest2017-10joeyandjoshkeywest2017-10   joeyandjoshkeywest2017-1joeyandjoshkeywest2017-1   joeyandjoshkeywest2017-12joeyandjoshkeywest2017-12     joeyandjoshkeywest2017-19joeyandjoshkeywest2017-19   joeyandjoshkeywest2017-20joeyandjoshkeywest2017-20   joeyandjoshkeywest2017-26joeyandjoshkeywest2017-26   joeyandjoshkeywest2017-28joeyandjoshkeywest2017-28   joeyandjoshkeywest2017-35joeyandjoshkeywest2017-35   joeyandjoshkeywest2017-42joeyandjoshkeywest2017-42   joeyandjoshkeywest2017-50joeyandjoshkeywest2017-50   joeyandjoshkeywest2017-51joeyandjoshkeywest2017-51

That was our Christmas gift to each other this year. We stated and maintained this Christmas towards each other would be light and minimal come Christmas day. I believed that. Kept being reminded of it too. So Chicken and a Biscuit crackers with cheese, a 90 minute treatment at Massage Envy, a calendar, a waffle maker, and a home cooked breakfast was the extent of my gift giving. LOL!

Then it’s my turn to receive as we are sitting on a blanket on the floor around the tree. I start opening gifts and immediately I was like “Hey, Next year I am not listening to you.” LOL. As already I could tell this wasn’t as light of a Christmas as I was led to believe. Didn’t think much of it than that he just was getting a hoot out of tricking me. Then I received a box.

Now anyone who knows me, knows my obsession with scents and candles is to the extreme lol. Well I was opening a gift and pulling out the tissue paper and I could feel candles. I was immediately excited. There felt about 5 of them. YES! Candles. Win! As I unwrap the first candle however, as shown in the order that I grabbed and unwrapped them below, emotion completely flooded over me.

Crash, Matt, Seth, Nana and Pa, Us. I was already balling by the time I was done unwrapping these candles in this box. I thought this was one of the most thoughtful, heartfelt, and endearing presents I had ever received. To include some of the key people in my life who I have lost prior to be a part of our Christmas I thought was just so wonderful and clever. We hug. I collect myself. So then I am immediately presented with another box. I state “Okay babe I hope the emotion fest is over” while laughing through my bubbling cracking voice. I open the box. I can feel, it’s another candle.

I unwrap it from its tissue paper. And this is the last candle as you see below. I unwrap, turn it around and I read “I NEVER WANT THIS TO END – Joey, will you marry me?!” Emotion fest completely NOT over!! Josh grabs my arms speaks to me for a little bit so excited and then asks me to Marry him. “YES! YES!” We are both shaking at this point in complete excitement. I immediately am presented with two more gifts to conclude the proposal. With that, we were then engaged. Obviously excitement ensued, some dancing, laughter, and of course a toast of Champagne. I was seriously blindsided and loved every minute of it. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Excited so much for our future even more now.

Josh. I love you more than words can express. I am one lucky man, and you have truly have shown me life through different eyes, love from one of the truest hearts, and care from one of the most genuine, passionate, and stand up men I am lucky to have encountered. I am proud to be yours.

Melanie and Daniel Say I Do in Key West on Winter Solstice http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2017/12/melanie-daniel-say-i-do-winter-solstice I absolutely love this love story! Melanie Buffett and Daniel Herbst met while Melanie was on a walk to Audubon  park in New Orleans in 2014. They had a mutual friend and then later asked about each other. A few years later on November 25,  2017 he proposed at Machu Picchu and they were married less than a month later at their Winter Solstice wedding in Key West, Florida! Their friend Ron Shapiro said it best... "The darkest dark day of the year and you two decided to light it up with love!"

The couple had a private courthouse ceremony. Shortly following, Melanie and Daniel went for margaritas for sunset cocktail hour at Margaritaville Resort and Marina! A good tradition when you are Jimmy Buffett's niece, right?!!?!

The reception followed at Melanie's Mother's old town Key West home were she and Esme O'Kelly cooked Lucy Buffett’s famous gumbo!

The details were very unique to this couple. The rings are from favorite jewelry designers Pamela Love and local artist Svea Seredin. The cake topper from the grooms cake was one of my favorites to date because of the story behind it! Daniel's Mother was going through some old items of his and found a ton of legos.  Shortly after hearing this, Melanie asked  to comb through hundreds of legos and found the bride and groom! It made for a very creative piece! Lifelong friends brought guitars to the party and played classic singalong  songs while dancing ensued and sounds of laughter, stories, and champagne bottle pops filled the air.

Congratulations to this happy, easy going, and super fun couple! Cheers to many years of happiness! #wintersolsticewedding #keywest #maDventures

Alyssa Said Yes- Key West Engagement Photos http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2017/12/alyssa-drew-key-west-engagement Alyssa and Drew met online back in 2012 and Drew later proposed in the Bahamas! They were on a cruise and were supposed to go to CocoCay . This is where Drew was planning to propose, but at the last minute the captain of the ship said that the waves were too high and choppy to get to the little island and they were going to Nassau instead. That definitely changed Drew’s plans and he ended up proposing at Atlantis in the Bahamas. I love this story because I can imagine how nervous he felt. Alyssa says it was perfect!

These two are animal lovers. Drew has a cat, who is spoiled rotten. This is a huge reason why they love going to the Ernest Hemingway House.  "We love the cats and plan on adding a Corgi to the family!" They also love cruises. Their first trip to Key West was part of a cruise and the first thing we planned for our wedding was our honeymoon cruise! They are currently in school and are working in accounting and finance and most recently adding wedding planning to the list!

Congratulations! It was such a pleasure to capture your engagement photos and I wish you smooth sailing while planning your Key West wedding!

Close to Perfect - Far From Normal- Alex + Jim Say I Do in Key West http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2017/12/-close-to-perfect---far-from-normal---alex-jim Alex and Jim both met through work several years before they started dating. The best way to describe the fun and energy between these two ... "Close to Perfect - Far From Normal"! They are both horse show judges and met on the show circuit. However, when they first met they were both married at the time. Fast forward a bit, and once both of these guys were single, they started dating during the winter of 2011. At the time they were both working in Wellington, FL at the Winter Equestrian Festival and it was all up hill from there!

They live the horse-show lifestyle traveling the country working as horse show judges.  Alex is also a horse show manager so during the winter she works in Wellington and then the rest of the year they travel from show to show as judges. The rest of the time they enjoy time with each other as much as they can!

Key Weird ( aka Key West) is often called the island of misfit toys so it was only natural the couple chose such a fantastic place like La Te Da to say their I Do's. They chose LaTeDa because of their "Land of Misfit Toys" theme. " Since that's how we horse show people are also known as!  We're like the carnival but with good teeth, lol!"

The ceremony was very intimate on the top balcony of La Te Da and the ceremony was finished with a  Veuve Clicquot champagne toast. Yes, that is before they walked down the aisle! Awesome, right!?  After a group photo we headed down for a picture perfect sunset where the couple also stopped and bought some palm roses from the guy making them on the pier. After a few attempts on the saganaki the traditional greek dish and shot officially started the dinner party! The rest of the week their closest friends and family celebrated with activities such as drag shows, dinners, and getting out on the water for boat days!

The two are perfect for Key West and we love you! Congratulations Alex and Jim!

Jen + Chuck Say I Do in the Southernmost City http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2017/12/jen-chuck-keywestwedding Jen and Chuck met online over two years ago and soon became a great pair. The two are adventurous and also very supportive of each other. On New Year's Eve 2017 Jen gave Chuck a mason jar and some post it notes. She asked him to write down positive things that happened to him throughout the year and would read through them on New Years Eve. Chuck requested that Jen participate by adding her positive moments to the jar as well. By June 14th, 2017 the jar was pretty full! They sat down and started reading all the positive things aloud to one another. One of the notes that Jen picked up to read had said "She said yes" written on it. Chuck then asked Jen to spend the rest of her life with him!

The two were married here in sunny Key West, Florida on a perfect December day! Not a cloud in the sky at the Southernmost Beach Resort. Jen wore a strapless mermaid style dress and the peacock theme featured teal and purples. The ceremony took place oceanside where the two said their I Do's in front of friends and family including Chuck's children, Tierney and Keighan who did a wonderful job as flower girl and ring bearer.

After the ceremony, Jen had a surprise for Chuck on the beach. The two enjoyed a very intimate setting while Jen's brother in law played one of Chuck's favorite Chris Cornell's songs. Only the bridal party was in attendance for this special moment.

The others traveled to the Roof Top Cafe via the Old Town Trolley while the couple enjoyed sunset photos. Afterwards, they joined to spend the rest of the evening celebrating!

Carmella + Chris Say I Do in Key West http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2017/12/carmella-chris-casamarina Carmella and Chris are a one of a kind couple and the connection they have is undeniable! The two met on a fitness dating site called Fitness Singles in 2008 and Carmella proposed to Chris on December 9th, 2008! Nine years to the date the two made it official here in Key West, Florida with their friends and family and fur baby Alex. The day was beautifully surreal. While looking out of the windows of bridal suite one could see the rare site of the local shrimp boats lined up on the horizon. The clouds and a little drizzle only made the richness of Carmella's flowers and lip color pop even more!

The guests and the groom arrived via the City View Trolley at St Mary's Star of the Sea Church where the wedding ceremony took place. In true Key West fashion, Chris received an Atocha coin for good luck from the driver of the trolley who was also a conch!

After the I DO's and a few (very fun) family photos, the bridal party joined the rest of the guests and continued on a wonderful tour of the island. Such a great idea for destination wedding guests because they gain a lot of information and fun facts about the island in such a short time. Even I learned a thing or two on the tour!

The reception set up at the Casa Marina by Erica with Simply You and Milan was fresh, elegant, and classy! Fresh limes acted as name cards, the driftwood, white florals, and candlelight created a stunning contrast with the Casa Marina Ballroom. I hope to see this set up again! Jimmy V certainly knows how to get a party started and all the guests danced the night away only to be swept away for a grand sparkler exit!

Congratulations to you and your families!

Holly + Gregg Say I Do In Key West! http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2017/12/holly-gregg-say-i-do-in-key-west Holly and Gregg met through networking events in the elevator business. They were engaged Labor Day weekend 2016. Gregg brought Holly to a spa she loves in Wisconsin. After dinner they went for a light walk in the trails where Greg asked her in private in the romantic woods to be his wife! They were married in Key West oceanside at the beautiful Fort Zachary Taylor. The reception shortly followed inside the actual fort. Great historical venue location and the floral arrangements by Milan brought the elegance to make this set up stunning!

Nothing but laughs, blue skies, and amazing vendors for this fun couple. After the gorgeous cake by Key West Cakes was cut, the two danced the night away with their friends and family underneath the stars with the ocean surrounding them. Congratulations to you and and your families!

Kaitlin and Chris Say I Do in Key West- Casa Marina http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2017/12/kaitlin-and-chris-say-i-do-in-key-west Kaitlin and Chris (Ozzy) Osborne were married here in Key West, Florida at the beautiful Casa Marina! The two met through a mutual friend Kaitie. It's not every wedding where the person who introduced the couple also officiates the wedding! Great job, Kaitie! They were engaged in September 2016 at Breezy Point in New York. Kaitlin had gone to the beach there since she was a little kid and Ozzy became a regular visitor since they had started dating. Ozzy convinced her to talk a walk to the ocean as Hurricane Hermine was on it's way. He proposed on the jetty! "He likes to tell people he orchestrated the sun to return to beautiful weather that evening just for the occasion, while I smile and roll my eyes off to the side. " Oddly enough their wedding followed Hurricane Irma. Perhaps he did bring the good weather, Kaitlin!

It was an absolutely perfect December day for weather here in the Keys. Both the ceremony and the reception were oceanside at the Casa Marina's East Beach. While we were taking sunset photos, the guests enjoyed cocktail hour outside near the historical ballroom. The beach set up included gold lanterns, driftwood , and elegant  white flowers by Duarte. Simply stunning!

After dinner and cake by the ocean was cut, the two danced the night away near the sound of the waves of the ocean!

Congratulations to you and your families!

Without Ed, You're Dead! Benjawan + Ed Say I Do in Key West! http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2017/12/withoutedyourdead I am very excited to share a sneak peek from Benjawan and Edward's wedding last week here in beautiful Key West, Florida! The day was as perfect as is the love these two share for each other. Every colorful detail was designed by Benjawan for her "simple beach wedding". I put that in quotations because after one meets this fun-loving and energetic bride, they understand simple is not really her way! The gorgeous teal red bottom Christian Louboutin wedding shoes had to be one of my favorite bride picks! Her wedding gown, the custom hangers, embroidered shirts for the wedding party, and the comfy socks were just to name a few details that brought such joy to the day.

After we finished photographing the bridal details, we were off to the beach for a First Look. I think it is best described by Ed.. " Benjawan took my breath away and I was speechless. I truly could not speak. She was absolutely gorgeous. I AM the luckiest man alive. I’m so glad she came into my life. She makes me happy everyday and I intend to make her happy everyday also."

The Around Key West Session was a must for this colorful bride and we had such a wonderful time doing so before the ceremony! Ed sure does know how to make his bride laugh!

Once we arrived at the beach the decor was in perfect place! Each guest was greeted with a custom water bottle, chapstick, and a fan should they have needed it during the oceanside beach ceremony at the Fort Zachary Taylor State Park!  The picturesque oceanside reception took place at the exclusive Ocean Key Resort's Hot Tin Roof! The cake topper was an EXACT ( I mean exact) replica of the couple!

Benjawan and Ed are a perfect balance for each other and really do have a fairytale story.

"I dont call him Ed to be honest, I call him MacGyver. You know like the TV show guy? Because he can do everything and make ANYTHING out of spare parts. He rescued me in so many ways when he was just my friend and I had zero monies. No strings attached he just did things for me because he is THAT nice of a guy.

I met MacGyver several years ago in 2010. He was on the police squad and the inside joke was "Without Ed, you're dead" Who knew that line would be common every time I would see Officer Shoemaker. I ended up selling his home back in 2010 because he was going thru a divorce back then. Anyways, I kept in touch with Ed because I am a fabulous Real estate agent and plus he was our friend. Then 2 years ago in 2014-2015, MacGyver was in the market to buy a house again. We ended up finding him a house after several months and multiple offers later.... this is the part where I get teary eyed because in February 2015 while I was writing up the offer on what would end up being his house, he had asked me how I was doing....?

In 2016, after two months of dating, while we were on a Mama/Daughter beach vacation, my daughter Jordan turned to me and said "why don’t you just stop dating everyone but Ed.. He loves you. You love him. You should just tell him he is your boyfriend" I just told her I wasn't ready to be exclusive but when that day comes, MacGyver will probably be the guy!

So from October 2015 thru current today - my way to relax is my beach trips whether an overnighter or a weekend or a week with and without my kids. My favorite relaxing thing to do is collect shells not just whole shells but also the little bits and pieces of shells til they fill gallon Ziplocs. I can spend hours digging thru the sand or rocks just to find these shells. I think because truly it’s those little pieces of shells that make the beach whole. I felt like I was broken into a million pieces those crazy traumatic 2 years.

Anyways we dated exclusively and next thing I know in August yes like 2 months later we went on our last summer beach trip with my boys and he proposed to me on one of our favorite beaches during sunset with the most perfect ring because he is such an amazing man!!!!

It took me one full year after our engagement to choose a wedding date but in the years of 2015-2017, MacGyver has been my rock. My quiet hard working amazing man. I am so lucky to have this man be a huge part of my life and my children's lives....... I could go on and on and on........ I love him and know that this wonderful man is my Forever!!" - Benjawan

"I start my story about Benjawan and myself which starts about May 2010 when I was introduced to Benjawan as a realtor because I needed to sell my home due to my divorce. A work colleague of mine that was also a friend at the time knew of my situation and told me that his wife was a realtor and could help with the short sell of my home. I agreed to and arranged a time to meet at my home. The evening that she arrived at my home I was waiting and as I heard her arriving vehicle pull into my driveway, I stepped outside to meet her and observed this beautiful woman with the biggest smile on her face like she was happy to see me. Looking back I wonder if she knew or felt something about me. Of course, I smiled back because her smile and personality is so contagious. While working with me, I also witnessed her big mouth laugh which I adore and it can make anyone smile and often does.  She was very professional and did sell my home very quickly which was great for my situation but it also meant that I would not get to see her smile or laugh as much as I wanted. We did create a friendship though and I promised her that when I was ready to buy another home I would call her. Little did she know how I missed her smile and laugh for the next couple years.

At the end of 2014, I began looking for a new home and called upon Benjawan to help. She was surprised because she thought that I found a new realtor and moved on. I had been approached by other realtors but was true to my promise that I would allow Benjawan the opportunity to find my new home.

Fast forward a bit and Benjawan decided to move again and asked for my assistances to help. I jumped at the opportunity to be near her. While loading and hauling, we were much more comfortable being around each other and started joking with each other and having fun. I again got to see that smile and big mouth laugh that I so adore. I realized that I liked being around her and wondered if she would stay in contact after this move was over. At one point while we were carrying boxes in the home, I just stared at her while she was walking upstairs and thought “WOW”, that’s a hot looking woman! I thought then, I sure hope we can see each other after all this is over. While moving items in the new home, I noticed there were several things such as holes in the wall and faucets needing repair so of course I offered my help to make this transition just a little easier.

The next day, I received a call from Benjawan inviting me and the other friends that helped to come over and eat dinner prepared by her to show her appreciation for our hard work. I was very reluctant to accept because I was feeling jealous of her new boyfriend and thought I should just stay away. After talking on the phone and listening to her voice, I began to melt and gave up my pride and agreed to come over for dinner. After dinner Benjawan shared some personal photos about her life with her family and herself. I was so impressed with where she has been and what she has done. I left that night wanting to know more and to get closer to her.

Benjawan did ask me to come over and fix some of the items that were in need of repair. I was happy to do so because I also got to spend time with her children and create some fun times with them. Eventually I finished fixing things and she renamed me MacGyver because I said I can fix anything.

I continued to be her little MacGyver and in turn I was able to spent time with her children too and created a close relationship with the whole family. I loved being around like I was part of the family and it seemed that Benjawan loved having me around too. Eventually we started dating and I just could not get enough of her. I thought about her all the time and found myself going to sleep and waking up with her on my mind. At first it scared me but I thought to myself, maybe I’m falling in love. The more I thought about it the more I wanted to be with her. Before I knew it I was falling. One day while we were having lunch together, I blurted out, I think I love you. Benjawan looked at me with a strange blank look on her face and said “WHAT”. I remembering saying “you don’t have to say anything.”  I just wanted her to know how I felt in case something happened to me or our situation changed. The good thing was she didn’t freak out and stop answering her phone. We continued to see each other and I loved every moment together. Benjawan did however add to the list of things to repair which meant I spent most of my time at her home.

I enjoyed being around her and being needed and believe me, she has a lot of needs and wants. I tried my best to fix and improve her home just to see her smile. I reached a point where I would do anything for her just to see her smile. I’m still on that level today. I have a need and want from her and that is to make her happy and to know that she will always be there to make me happy. I have often told her that when I’m gone, I love missing her, because it reminds me of how much I want and need her in my life.

On August 16th 2016, I proposed to her on the beach with her 3 boys. I gave her a huge diamond ring that was put in a tiny treasure chest and a note with the Question and choices like “Yes” or “No”  “Not Yet” and “Never”. I then asked her, “Will you be the better half of the best part of my life”, and guess what, She said “Yes”. She put the biggest smile on my face and warmth in my heart.

She is a very beautiful, caring, loving, honest, hard working, playful, sexy, smart woman and not to mention a great Mom. I love her and I love knowing that she loves me. I can’t wait to call her my wife and to make her proud to call me her husband. I am looking forward to growing old with Benjawan in a beach community making her happy and seeing her famous big mouth laugh.  Benjawan knows I would do anything for her in fact she still uses a phrase about me that was started a long time ago, “Without Ed, you’re dead”.  - ED

She Said Yes in Key West! http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2017/11/brittany-jimmy-she-said-in-key-west Jimmy secretively set up a proposal plan for Brittany. The plan was a sunset sail that he "won" through work with the help from a few friends and their signatures for the bidding sheet (totally made up). Once he called me to join them on the sunset sail to act part of the crew and capture the moment, I was all in! About 20 minutes into the PERFECT evening sunset sail here in Key West, Florida Jimmy proposed to Brittany on the bow of the boat. She Said Yes! Several kisses later he also had another surprise! Her favorite champagne (Billecart Salmon) and a custom label he had made for her! I mean ladies and gentleman, this is amazing, right!? :) The ring box was phenomenal as well. It was custom made so that it wasn't bulky like the classic engagement ring boxes. Great when you are trying to propose in a destination town!

Congratulations to you guys! thank you so much for letting me be a part of such a special evening in your life!

Brooke + Christian Valerio Say I DO in Key West- Casa Marina http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2017/11/valerio-key-west-wedding-casa-marina The second I met Brooke and Christian, I could feel their connection. Perhaps it is because they are high school sweethearts because they are perfect for each other.  The two are very active and love to do anything outdoors. They were engaged to be married on a hike in March 2016 in Lambertville, NJ! Key West has always had special place in their hearts. In fact, they have been been to Key West for other family weddings. It was no surprise they chose the crème de la crème here on the island, Casa Marina

The bride and groom were married oceanside in front of their closest friends and family. Christian saw his bride for the first time walking down the aisle with her father. Such a beautiful moment. The ocean waves, acoustic guitar, and the voice of Steve Torrence made for a special vow exchange. After the first kiss and a gorgeous sunset ...the party began!

The reception set up in the Henry Flager Ballroom was elegant and timeless and the 30Vice Band kept everyone on their feet! Even granny got out there and danced the night away! After the first dances and lovely dinner, the cake cutting tradition was kept and the evening of celebration continued!

The fun loving couple along with their larger than life bridal party were spectacular, and I am honored to have been a part of this wedding. Congratulations Brooke and Christian! I wish you many years of happiness!

Rachel's Key West Shopping Guide http://www.racheleligon.com/blog/2017/11/rachels-key-west-shopping-guide If you’re in Key West for a wedding or a vacation, you may want to shop for a gift for someone back home or a keepsake for yourself. If you know where to look, there’s much more to the island’s opportunities for shopping than the knick knacks and t-shirts on Duval Street! There are many hidden gems that offer unique items, from eclectic jewelry to colorful home items to artsy conversation pieces. Here are some of my favorite places to go shopping in Key West, in an easily walkable order!

Salt

As the name would suggest, this shop offers wonderful local sea salts, in addition to honey, art, jewelry, pottery, and wine! The gallery is brimming with beautiful creations from local artists. Salt is a treasure trove of anything you could want to pick up as a housewarming gift or just to enjoy a taste of your time in Key West.

Art @830

There are several art galleries in Key West, and Art @830 truly stands out. Close to the Historic Seaport, this gallery is focused on local artists and staffed by knowledgeable and passionate volunteers.

Mac's Sea Garden

Mac’s Sea Garden has an eclectic mix of gifts and souvenirs. Their assortment includes hats, shirts, shells, and even kitchen items like sea sponges, magnets, and glassware! On your way in or out, don’t forget to stop and take a picture with the giant Spongeman outside. You can’t miss him!

Local Color

Local Color has two locations: one is around the corner from Mac’s Sea Garden, and the other is “the biggest little jewelry store!” Both have a wide selection of jewelry, including gorgeous bracelets and rings. You can also pick up the “ingredients" to make your own piece from their beautiful beads and special charms.

90 Miles to Cuba

Be sure to stop by this little shop and art gallery located in the Historic Seaport District. Enjoy items both old and new, from nautical antiques to modern jewelry. Shop and then get a treat at one of Kermit’s locations, just next door!

Kermit's Key West Key Lime Shoppe

It might be Key West’s most frequently asked question: Where can you get the BEST Key lime pie? While it is nearly impossible to pick just one slice, Kermit’s is endorsed by The Food Network’s Paula Deen, and even more importantly, Conch Republic citizens ourselves! I love the frozen Key lime pie dipped in chocolate on a stick, but you can find more than KLP here. There is taffy, chutney, salsa, tea, olive oil, candy, and anything else you can think of to fulfill your wildest, limiest dreams.

Coco's Monkey

CoCo's Monkey is Key West's only Athliesure Wear Boutique. Specializing in performance wear for running, yoga, paddle boarding, fishing, and more, it's the perfect place to gear up for the island's many sporty offerings! Best yet, you'll be greeted by a s

Captain's Mermaid

This boutique, located near the Historic Seaport, offers a quirky array of gifts that mermaids and humans alike will love, including gems, shells, and chimes. Captain’s Mermaid also boasts stunning sandals, accessories, and clothing for kids and adults. There is also a ‘man bench’ in case someone in your shopping group needs to take a load off.

Kino's

Open since 1966, Kino’s is a local gem featuring handmade sandals made with natural leather, plus accessories and fun décor! Tucked away just off Duval Street, you should be able to find the perfect pair of sandals here for anyone!

Audubon House Gift Shop

This picturesque spot is adjacent to the beautiful historic Audubon House & Tropical Gardens, which are well worth visiting! The shop is run by lovely, knowledgeable people who are happy to show you around the selection of fine art and one-of-a-kind gifts, including prints of works by naturalist and ornithologist John James Audubon.

Isle Cook

Isle Cook is known for its enjoyable cooking classes and wine tastings. Check out its event schedule to see what’s coming up! Otherwise, stop in to browse an array of kitchenware that make great gifts or additions to your home. From practical to adorable (like a pitcher shaped like a fish that gurgles when poured!), you’ll be reminded of Key West every time you cook!

Jean-Pierre Klifa Paris

If you want to add some high fashion into your wardrobe, swing by this shop on Simonton Street. Jean-Pierre Klifa is a French-born, Miami-based designer who creates gorgeous pieces with bold prints. Stop in and take home a dress, top, pair of pants, scarf, or handbag!

Island Style Galleries

Enjoy a vibrant range of American arts and crafts. The creative pieces are a tribute to the natural beauty of island life. This nationally-recognized retailer also offers home furnishings, decorations, fashion, and striking jewelry.

Guild Hall Gallery

This gem on Duval Street is a must-see during your Key West visit! It began as an artist co-op in 1976, and today, the creators - including artists in residence - are still able to showcase their work in the original location.

Besame Mucho

Established in 1999, this charming Petronia Street shop is full of romantic, old-world charm. The small, cute shop has a lovely aesthetic that you won’t want to miss!

Wanderlust

Opened in 2010, Wanderlust is by travel-lovers for travel-lovers. Here, you’ll find fashion, accessories, and crafts that colorfully express beach culture. There are local items as well as treasures from the coasts of California, England, and more.

The Petronia Island Store

Petronia Island, on Whitehead Street, is all about fairly traded, handmade pieces that reflect the spirit of our island. Enjoy a serene browsing experience and a beautiful selection of items.

COAST

COAST embodies the cool spirit of beach life and offers t-shirts with sleek designs and other island-y goods. But as it explains, "we’re about more than those tangible things that you see on the showroom floor and in the web store." To experience the COAST philosophy for yourself, head to its popup shop on Whitehead Street, just a block off Duval.

The Green Pineapple

This zen, chic shop is a locals’ favorite! Near the south end of Duval Street, The Green Pineapple eco-friendly shop and yoga studio offers apparel, jewelry, and a healthy menu including coffee, tea, wine, and dessert. In the midst of a busy day, this is the perfect place to re-energize with a yoga class, light shopping, and bite to eat.
